Deep Dive Exploration Day: Paris
Are you someone with big ideas who doesn’t quite know what to do with them?
Deep Dive Exploration Days are 1:1 experiences to help make your ideas come to life. It’s part coaching, part consulting, part exploration, and part inspiration where the city is our classroom. We’ll walk, talk, taste, explore, and maybe even catch an exhibit in the process. The ultimate goal is to leave the day feeling inspired with clear next steps just for you!
The day starts with a coffee at a Parisian café (we’ll choose which one based on your interests). You don’t need to officially prepare anything, but when you book, you should have some idea of what you want to talk about. It may be a big idea you’re excited to launch, or a struggle you have with too many ideas, and figuring out where to start. There’s not one way to approach this, but the goal is to help YOU get closer to where you want to be.
If you’re looking to have a set itinerary, this is not the option for you. The best part of these deep dive days is the sense of openness and adventure, and the element of spontaneity. We’ll come up with a basic plan during coffee, but we’re likely to re-route throughout the day as new ideas are sparked through conversation.
We’ll stop for lunch somewhere along the way, because let’s be real. Good ideas need to be nourished with good food too! As this is Paris, we’ll likely find some yummy pastries or treats along the way too.
Our six hours can be spent in numerous different ways. It could be walking for hours, or sitting in a park on a beautiful day, exploring passageways, or pouring through beautiful books for inspiration. Depending on what shows are on, there’s a good chance we’ll hit a museum or gallery too, if it seems like it may help inspire our themes for the day.
The beauty of Deep Dive Days is that no two days or people are ever the same. What may spark one person may be completely different for others. (I know a lot about Paris, but I also love to use them as an excuse to discover another side of the city.).
Here’s one sample day of how things unfolded with hand letterer and founder of Everyday Explorers Co. Christine Herrin:
Coffee at a cute café. Not only was it an excuse to chat, but Christine LOVES good coffee. Talked about stationery, paper products, illustrators, Instagram, and more.
Pop into a design-y book store to look for inspiration and point out some interesting French creatives on the scene. Bond over our love of books.
Lunch on a terrace eating duck confit (Christine’s favorite, I love it too), people watching, and chatting more. Ended up discussing packaging design, which sparked a few new ideas.
Hit up the gift shop at Hotel de Ville (city hall) which also happens to have some of the most beautifully designed tourism materials I’ve ever seen. (You can see some favorites in the photo below!).
Visited the office supply section of one of the grands magasins (department stores), closely examining different ways folders and boxes closed, as well as chatting about color schemes, and generally ohh-ing and aww-ing over crafty products.
Walked and talked, along the scenic route, bien sûr
Capped off the day with a glass of wine.
What if the sample day doesn’t sound like you?
Never fear, Deep Dive Days are aimed at YOU. The more clues you can give me about what you’re looking for, the more I can help and better cater our “route”. My job is to listen. I may ask some questions too to help dive a bit deeper. Sometimes the problem or concern people come to me with is not the same vision they leave the day with. It’s best to come into the day with an open mind. You never know where you may uncover the next burst of inspiration.
What do you need to do?
Be your fabulous self! Enjoy the day. Be open to adventure. Bring a notebook and something to write with. You can expect we may hit pause a few times throughout the day for some exercises. Don’t worry, there’s no test at the end, but you may end up drawing a mindmap or two. If you need to take a break to check email, that’s possible, or use the day as an excuse to unplug.
“But I’m an introvert!”
Never fear, so am I! We’ll get through this. If we need to take a break or just be quiet while we walk, that’s OK to. Every second doesn’t have to be filled with mind blowing inspiration. So much of the day also involves reflection and processing we see and talk about. (It’s also why I like a couple weeks to call before our follow-up call—it leaves time for percolation and digestion.)
1 museum entry
6 hours of exploration around Paris
An email recap of our day, where we went, and resources
30-min follow up call a few weeks later
What’s on you?
Metro tickets (we may be bopping around the city, but we also might end up walking everywhere)
Drinks (stopping for a glass of wine isn’t out of the question)
When can we do this?
I juggle a bunch of different projects, but Deep Dive Days are one of the endeavors I’m most excited about, so they get priority. I don’t accept bookings more than 3-months in advance in order to minimize the chance of cancellations (I find this helps both sides, but feel free to inquire anyway, to get a date on my radar). Depending on my schedule, I may be able to do last minute too. Just ask!
800€ HT (Tax is 20% in France, but you may be exempt if you run your own business or live abroad).
